Book Week Scotland & Amnesty International

Please come along and help us mark Book Week Scotland with readings for the Amnesty International Imprisoned Writers series.

After participating in Amnesty’s Imprisoned Writers Readings during the Edinburgh International Book Festival, I am really delighted to be taking part again to celebrate this year’s Book Week Scotland.

Join me and other writers at Amnesty Scotland’s newest bookshop, 12 Roseneath Street, Edinburgh on Friday 25 November at 6.30pm to read works by writers who cannot be with us during Book Week Scotland because they have been imprisoned, tortured, disappeared, or even killed for expressing their thoughts in words.

Book Week Scotland runs from 21-27 November 2016 and brings together people of all ages and walks of life to share their enjoyment of books and reading.

Amnesty’s newest bookshop opened its doors in October, offering local bookworms the chance to bag the best in second-hand books while raising vital funds for Amnesty International’s campaign work. Staffed by volunteers and stocked by donations, all the money we raise goes towards championing human rights across the world.
