I am truly honoured to have been awarded the Dr Gavin Wallace Fellowship, hosted by the Edinburgh City of Literature.
This prestigious fellowship, funded by Creative Scotland, offers mid-career and established authors time to develop new work during a year long residency.
As a long-term resident of Edinburgh and someone who uses the city as a canvas for my work, this is an exciting chance for me to bring my ideas for a big, sprawling, multi-layered novel of Edinburgh alive on the page.
The partnership with Edinburgh City of Literature also offers a unique opportunity for me to explore the whole idea of fellowship, both within my home city and through the global Cities of Literature network in what I hope will be a vibrant international exchange of ideas.
