Festivals and Calligrammes

It’s Festival time in Edinburgh and the poetic results of my Writer in Residence programme at the Royal High School are now on show.

Walk through the entrance foyer of the Hub on Castlehill and you’ll find a wall covered in spatial poetry produced by Royal High students, all exploring war – the theme of this year’s Edinburgh International Festival.

The poems were inspired by the calligrammes of Guillaume Apollinaire and each one uses words to create its own distinct shape and form.

Congratulations to all the students who have produced such fantastic work.
