Really thrilled to be chairing this fantastic online event for Portobello Books in Edinburgh.
Violets by Alex Hyde is a beautiful, poetic and enthralling novel of female courage in the dying days of WW2. It draws on both Hyde’s family mythology and her father’s personal archive to re-imagine his story, creating what Margo Jefferson describes as a ‘subtle and daring book’.
Published as a lead title by Granta, the novel has already been selected as a BBC Radio 4 Book at Bedtime and Editor’s Choice in the Bookseller.
I’ll be talking to Hyde about the novel in an online only event on Thursday 10 February, starting at 7pm.
Tickets are available here from Portobello Bookshop and vary from free for the livestream, to £12.99 for the livestream plus an exclusive signed hardback edition of Violets.
Do come join in for what promises to be a wonderful evening.
